If you jailbroke your iPad and installed OpenSSH, you’ll notice that the location service in the Map.app doesn’t work anymore. It seems to be a bug with OpenSSH and the iPad. Lucky, there are allready some fixes around.

Since redsn0w was released, Hackulo.us had already AppSync in its repository. AppSync is the new miPatch or if you want the miPatch 3.0. But it’s not only a replacment for the MobileInstallation, it’s a whole installer for the patch. So you need to reboot your iPhone and have to WAIT!

A few weeks ago, PdaNet 1.52 was released and now PdaNet 1.53 is already released. It’s a minor bugfix releas which closes these problems:

It looks that the Repo from Hackulo.us has some little troubles. The result: you get 404 errors, if you try to download the miPatch or something else.
But lucky! There is also a manual way to install the patched MobileInstallation for Firmware 2.2 and 2.2.1!

Since a little while Debian 5.0 Lenny was released. Like ever mostly everything works perfekt – excepting the installation of VMware Tools in an VMware Workstation or ESX enviroment.
The problem is simple: the VMware Tools from ESX 3.5 and/or Workstation 6 are too old, they need an get_info method for being compiled. But this method was remove in Kernel 2.6.26!
Sice a few days Appulo.us is “down”. But don’t panic, it’s ja planed outage: the guys from Appulo need to switch on an better server, because the load was to heavy. And I think, you recognized that appulo.us was very very slow in the last few days…
Remember: as long as Appulo is offline, Installous won’t work! Since Installous is just a little iPhone Frontend, it needs to connect to appulo!
Typical problems are: you get just a white / blank page! Not more, not less.
So don’t kill your iPhone or reinstall the app more than 100 times – as soon as Appulo is back again, the App will work also!

Here the good news: you don’t need a new MobileInstallation. Since the firmware 2.2.1 has mostly bugfixes inside and a update for your basebad, the core components are untouched.

I recommend the use of the automatic method, it’s easy, it’s fast and you don’t need any *nix knowhow to navigate and copy files around.
