It looks that the Repo from Hackulo.us has some little troubles. The result: you get 404 errors, if you try to download the miPatch or something else.

But lucky! There is also a manual way to install the patched MobileInstallation for Firmware 2.2 and 2.2.1!

  1. Just download the patched MobileInstallation from here
  2. Now connect with i.e. WinSCP or Cyberduck your iPhone (login with root/alpine)
  3. Go to the folder /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileInstallation.framework
  4. Backup the existing file MobileInstallation to MobileInstallation.backup
  5. Now copy the downloaded patched MobileInstalltion to this folder.
  6. Set the filepermissions to 775 – double check it! Not 755 and also not 777!
  7. Now change to /private/var/mobile/
  8. Set recursivly filepermissions 777 to Applications
  9. Now create a folder Documents in:
    /private/var/mobile/Applications/ and /Applications/
Set filepermissions for both folders to 777!
  10. Check if you set everything correct and reboot your iPhone
  11. Before you can install any cracked IPAs, download any free App from the AppStore.
  12. Have fun =)

Since the newest iPhone Firmware 2.2.1 is released, I’ve got a lot of questions and search requests like this:

  • Can I use the miPatch from Cydia in Firmware 2.2.1?
  • Is my patched MobileInstallation 2.2 compatible up to 2.2.1?
  • Where can I download a patched version of MobileInstallation 2.2.1?

Here the good news: you don’t need a new MobileInstallation. Since the firmware 2.2.1 has mostly bugfixes inside and a update for your basebad, the core components are untouched.

You can still use one of these two howtos for patching your MobileInstallation:

I recommend the use of the automatic method, it’s easy, it’s fast and you don’t need any *nix knowhow to navigate and copy files around.
