Installous und iPod

Immer wieder bekomme ich Anfrage oder Kommentare, in denen das Problem erscheint, dass Installous nach der Installation nicht funktioniert resp. das Icon gar nicht angezeigt wird.

Grundsätzlich sollte mein Post Installer App für Appulo.us auch bei einem iPod funktionieren! Als Grundvoraussetzung ist jedoch die installierte miPatch gegeben!

Ich habe den Post entsprechend angepasst und das “Optional” entfernt. Auch beim iPhone ist dieser Patch zwingend notwendig, denn ohne diesen Patch lassen sich keine inoffiziellen IPAs installieren.

Vorgehen für Installous Installation

  1. Cydia starten, neue Source eintragen: http://cydia.hackulo.us.
  2. Via Cydia die miPatch 2.2.1 installieren – diese ist auch für Firmware 2.2 nutzbar, da in der Firmware 2.2.1 keine Major-Änderungen gemacht wurden. Details nachzulesen in diesem Beitrag.
  3. Irgend eine beliebige App aus dem AppStore offiziell herunter laden!
  4. Erst jetzt darf Installous installiert werden!
  5. Und jetzt sollten auch die Programme via Installous installierbar sein.

MobileInstallation for Firmware 2.2.1

Since the newest iPhone Firmware 2.2.1 is released, I’ve got a lot of questions and search requests like this:

  • Can I use the miPatch from Cydia in Firmware 2.2.1?
  • Is my patched MobileInstallation 2.2 compatible up to 2.2.1?
  • Where can I download a patched version of MobileInstallation 2.2.1?

Here the good news: you don’t need a new MobileInstallation. Since the firmware 2.2.1 has mostly bugfixes inside and a update for your basebad, the core components are untouched.

You can still use one of these two howtos for patching your MobileInstallation:

I recommend the use of the automatic method, it’s easy, it’s fast and you don’t need any *nix knowhow to navigate and copy files around.
